Legal
Cookie policy
The site itself sets no cookies. Everything that does comes from a third party, so this document is really a decision about which of them stay.
Status
Awaiting text from the operator’s solicitor. This site does not publish legal wording that has not been reviewed by someone qualified to write it.
The rules it has to meet
Governing law
- Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), where a cookie identifier is personal information
- Australian Privacy Principle 5, on notification at the point of collection
- The privacy policy, which must describe the same storage in the same terms
The brief
What the finished document must cover
Compiled from what this site actually does, so the drafting starts from the real system rather than from a template.
- 01Google Analytics 4: what it stores, for how long, and what the retention setting on this property is.
- 02Microsoft Clarity: session recording and heatmaps, which is a heavier disclosure than page analytics.
- 03Google reCAPTCHA, if it is added to any form, since it loads on the page whether or not the form is used.
- 04RMS Cloud, which sets its own storage during an accommodation booking on its own domain.
- 05Whether a consent banner is required at all, decided rather than assumed, and what it is allowed to block.
- 06How a visitor refuses or clears the above, including the browser controls that work without a banner.
- 07A table listing each item by name, purpose, duration and provider, kept current when anything is added.
In the meantime
What you can do now
No cookie is required to read this website, browse the galleries, or find the phone number. Blocking third-party storage in your browser will not stop any of it working.
