Access

Accessibility

This site is being built against WCAG 2.2 AA rather than described as accessible afterwards. The formal statement, and the answers about getting around the property itself, are still being prepared.

Status

Awaiting text from the operator’s solicitor. This site does not publish legal wording that has not been reviewed by someone qualified to write it.

The rules it has to meet

Governing law

  • Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth)
  • WCAG 2.2 Level AA, the standard the Australian Government applies to public-facing sites
  • Australian Human Rights Commission guidance on World Wide Web access

The brief

What the finished document must cover

Compiled from what this site actually does, so the drafting starts from the real system rather than from a template.

  1. 01The website conformance claim: which standard, which version, which pages were tested and by whom.
  2. 02Known limitations, stated plainly, including anything served from a third-party booking engine we do not control.
  3. 03Step-free routes between the car park, the ceremony locations and the Dairy Barn, described surface by surface.
  4. 04Accessible bathroom facilities: where they are and what they include.
  5. 05Accessible parking, and how close a vehicle can get to each ceremony location.
  6. 06Cottage access, including steps, thresholds, deck access and bathroom layout.
  7. 07Ground conditions in wet weather, since a grass paddock and a gravel track behave differently after rain.
  8. 08Hearing and vision support in the barn, including whether a hearing loop or microphone is available.
  9. 09How to tell us about an access requirement before a tour, and who reads that message.
  10. 10A contact route for reporting an accessibility problem with this website, and the response time for one.

In the meantime

What you can do now

If you have an access requirement, tell us when you book a tour and we will walk the route with you rather than describing it. If any part of this website is difficult to use, we want to hear about it specifically, because it is far easier to fix a named page than a general impression.

Questions about any of this go to info@yandinastation.com.au or (07) 5446 6000. The postal address is on the contact page.
